iGurukul LED Circuits STEM Activity
Our team did a workshop on LED circuits at a local after-school, iGurukul. The workshop was for 25 students in ages five through 10. We wanted to get the kids interested in STEM through fun Halloween Crafts. Before starting the tutorial, we talked to the kids about FTC and robotics and presented our robot. We hope these kids will gain interest in FTC, and compete in FIRST competitions in the future, encouraging underrepresented minorities in STEM. We allowed the kids to choose between two different Halloween crafts: light-up pumpkins, and spooky lanterns.
SpooktaClara - DIY LED Lantern STEM Education
We bought a stall at our Santa Clara's Halloween Children's Fair and conducted a DIY Halloween-themed LED circuit and spooky lanterns workshop. Over 2,000 people were present, and around 400 kids did the workshop at our booth. We taught students to embody FIRST values and worked on creating the next generation of graciously professional individuals.

FIRST Lego League Mentorship - 24 teams (120 students)
A member of our team created a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to mentor under-resourced students in the FIRST Lego League. We also volunteered at a local middle school, Cabrillo Middle School, and helped out 12 FLL teams with their Robot Design and Innovation Projects. Three of these teams made it to the regional competition! We gave them advice and guidance throughout their journey. We were able to connect FLL to FTC and inspire them to continue building their passion for robotics. All the teams we mentored over the course of this year are excited to carry on their journey with FIRST into high school.

Science Fair Tips and Tricks Webinar
We saw many first-year students participating in science fair competitions and creating STEM projects who needed guidance on where to start and how to get the project going. In this webinar, we provided one-to-one support on exactly this, in hopes of spreading our knowledge to those who may not have as much. We talked about our entire team's own experience at Science Fair. We also introduced FTC to these middle schoolers and encouraged them to look into this as a possible activity for future years, and even motivated FIRST to be a career and lifestyle.
Data Science and FIRST Awareness Workshop
Our team partnered with A Step Ahead Silicon Valley, a 501(c)(3) children's STEM education nonprofit, to set up a Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, and FIRST Awareness Workshop online with students in grades 6+. We introduced FIRST and showed them the FTC World Championships 2021-2022. Then, we explained other FIRST events and how the children can get involved. We educated them about gracious professionalism and other core values FIRST encourages in students. During the workshop, we taught them key terms about statistics, helped them create a machine-learning model that classifies objects of their choice and had an interactive activity where children became data scientists at Netflix and tried to solve the problem of people canceling their subscriptions through both data science and statistics.

STEM Biology and FIRST Awareness Workshop
As another partnership with A Step Ahead Silicon Valley, we taught students in grades 2+ basic biology information about the parts of a cell, different types, and their significance in living things. Additionally, after covering the basis of FIRST, our team, and this year's challenge, we shared information on which competition they could get involved in, which included FLL Jr. and FLL. As a culminating activity, students created their own examples of animal and plant cells, through a fun project.
Local Elementary School Winter Fair
We went to Discovery Charter School Phoenix and sold homemade 3D-printed holiday ornaments while talking to over 35 families about FIRST core values, gracious professionalism, and how to take advantage of different technologies found in makerspace settings. We raised $125! All profits are being organized to donate to children's health and general well-being.
